I agree with you on some things, like the hardware problem, but I think the new M1 macs even perform better with 8gbs of RAM, it can blow a linux or windows laptop with 16gbs away with its performance. But the software you use solely depends on you, you make sure you use cross platform apps, and that is all. The M1 macs are good, sometimes you need to live by Apple standards, but even if you live by it no Windows laptop can match the Apple standards, except for BIOS and dual booting of OS.
